Having decided to undertake a solo skydive a number of options exist, including:
accelerated freefall course
This program was developed in America in 1981. It has become a very popular way to learn how to skydive. The course is divided into 7 levels. Level one ground school training is held on the 3rd Saturday of every month and consists takes at least 6 hours to complete. Once your training is complete you will do you level one jump. The aim of the course is to teach you the basics of human body flight on the ground and then you can develop these skills in a safeguarded environment. For your first 3 levels two instructors will accompany you to 13,000ft. When you leave the aircraft, both instructors will be holding on to you and will give you air signals based on their assessment of your body position.
static line course
On your first static line jump you will exit our aircraft at 3,200 feet.The main parachute is deployed automatically by the 'static line' as you jump. You always wear two parachutes, the main and the reserve which is for use in the unlikely event that the main parachute does not function correctly. Training courses are held on hteh 1st Saturday of every month (you are required to book you place in advance) and run from at 9am to 4pm. You will be equipped with all the necessary skills to make your first jump. This includes equipment, navigation and landing procedures.
